SPACE: 1999 - Final Message From Moonbase Alpha

Ever wonder what happened to the inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha, once we stopped receiving transmissions of their adventures?

Well, back in 1999, regular series writer Johnny Byrne and cast member Zienia Merton (Sandra), managed to get this final message out to reassure fans that the Alphans... well, watch it for yourself.

  2. Yeah, well. Can't do anything about that. This post is 10 months old, after all.

  5. Simply touching. I believe it was Zienia Merton, and not only Sandra Benes who was crying. I think no other TV series had such a nice epilogue 20 years later. It reflects the love of fans that are still waiting for the Season 2 to come, instead of the doppelganger produced. Only Maya and the Bringers of Wonder could be saved.

In this time of lack of imagination, I sometimes wish a good remake of Space:1999 was planned. Sometimes I am afraid of it...

  6. Simply a wonderful, WONDERFUL gesture by the 1999 creative team.

Seen this a couple dozen times and never tire of it. 1999 Year 1 will remain my favorite series ever, never insulting, never cheating the viewer, never talking down to the audience, inspiring a sober, scientific, at times metaphysical look at the universe with still-awesome effects, sets, actors, stories, etc.

    It was perfect.

  7. Wow !
And it was great to see Zienia Merton again. I had such a crush on her from seeing her in THE CHAIRMAN and SPACE 1999.

  8. Simply spectacular - great series, mostly engaging stories (still love Dragons Domain premise) and great acting lives forever, well done guys, with hindsight we can always forgive the little things. Fifteen years later this effort still totally rocks.

    Had a crush on Zenia? Who didn't . . . (silence from the audience . . . ) lol

  9. That was a nice coda. Interesting how she didn't mention Helena Russell (but then Barbara Bain's nickname on set was "Barbara Pain")...

  11. I liked the show very much .it would be great if they did a remake but they would have to be careful not to make it to dark .to me that would be a mistake .I understand that there would need to be dark moments .but there could be fun stuff as well .they would have to charge the name maybe space 2099 or something .but done well I think it could be a great show .I hope they do it and do it well .only time will tell

  12. Bumped into Zienia yesterday at a bus stop in my home city only yesterday - I was stunned--seems she's moved here 8 years ago and I didn't know - looks as stunning as ever.
Regret, I won't let you know where.
